Intermittent problems with Hawke’s Bay Hospital phone system
There have been intermittent problems with Hawke’s Bay Hospital’s phone system over the past few days, with some phones being out of action.
This has affected the main phone number in to the hospital and community services – 878 8109, as well as numerous direct-dial lines for other services. Callers have been getting an engaged signal, however, from today a message has been installed on affected phones to advise callers of the problems.
Additional cell phones have been commissioned to use inside the hospital, and the internal paging system is still working, as is the internal and external email system.
IT manager, Jo-Ann Jacobsen said as a consequence of the fault there will be a planned outage from 10:00pm tonight. “Telecom is working with us to rectify this problem and services will be restored to normal as soon as possible,” Jo-Ann Jacobsen said.
This outage does not affect the 111 emergency number, and people should still phone this number for all medical emergencies. For any mental health emergencies, people should phone 0800 112 334
