Breastfeeding poster
The Michael Hurst poster developed for World Breastfeeding Week has been withheld from circulation by the Ministry of
Health today. Women’s Health Action, who developed the poster as part of an employers pack, is disappointed with the
decision saying the poster was developed over many months in consultation with social marketers then focus group tested
with its target audience.
“The focus groups held in depth discussions about breastfeeding in the workplace which demonstrated the effectiveness of
the poster to engage managers, employers and business owners in discussing the issue.” Says WHA Breastfeeding Advocate,
Louise James.
The fact sheets in the pack provide simple information as to what employers can do to make it easier for women to
breastfeed in the workplace.
The pack is designed to be a complementary set of resources with the poster to encourage, promote and stimulate
discussion and the fact sheets to provide useful information.
