NZMA Supports Retention of Flexible Dispensing
‘The New Zealand Medical Association supports Pharmac’s decision to allow doctors to choose more frequent dispensings than their controversial proposal that most prescriptions be prescribed and dispensed for a three month period,’ says Chairman Dr Tricia Briscoe.
‘We are pleased that Pharmac has taken on board the points we made in our submission to them and that New Zealanders are not locked into a system that many would find difficult.’
‘We are still concerned, however, at the potential effect on some pharmacies. The Government needs to ensure that New Zealanders will continue to have reasonable access to pharmacy-based dispensing services,’ she says.
