Ministry investigating Pan Pharmaceuticals medicines
The Ministry of Health's medicines and medical devices safety authority, Medsafe, is aware of only three over-the-counter medicines manufactured by Pan Pharmaceuticals which may been distributed in New Zealand.
Pan Pharmaceuticals is an Australian dietary supplement and pharmaceutical manufacturer at the centre of a major recall in Australia.
Ministry spokesman Peter Pratt said Medsafe officials are investigating the medicines with the New Zealand distributor, Wilson Consumer Products.
``We want to know whether affected batches of the three medicines have been distributed here in New Zealand. If they have, the products will be recalled immediately.
``The three medicines are not prescription medicines -- they're sold over the counter. We're treating this very seriously, and are working to clarify the situation with the distributor as soon as possible.''
