HINZ and Ministry of Health look to recognise Health IM Innovation
The Ministry of Health, in conjunction with Health Informatics New Zealand (HINZ) have put out a call to the health
sector in New Zealand, to submit their IM innovations for recognition in a health and disability information management
award.
Five innovation case studies will be recognised and awarded through the annual HINZ Conference in August.
"We want to highlight health and disability IM innovations that have demonstrated success through the sound management
of information and technology," said Debbie Chin, Deputy Director General, Corporate and Information Directorate, at the
Ministry of Health.
"The chosen projects will show how they use information technology to assist clinicians and/or administrators in making
a healthy difference to their communities and patients.
An advisory group will select the leading innovations, which will be written up as case studies in a booklet that will
be distributed to the health information industry.
"We want to hear from people who have seen a need and found an innovative and successful approach to meeting that need.
We'll be looking for initiatives that are transferable to other health organisations, and that promote a sharing and
learning environment," said Ms Chin.
All innovations received will be reviewed by a joint Ministry of Health and HINZ panel over the next four months in time
for a presentation at the August HINZ Conference.
