Rael Makes An Appeal For Peace
His Holiness RAEL, spiritual leader of the Raelian Movement, calls for all the pacifists in the world to demonstrate, as energetically as possible, their opposition to a military attack on IRAQ.
Below is a statement from His Holiness RAEL:"The model that the world needs more than ever is not the rush-to-war Georges Bush but rather the Mahatma GANDHI. Only non-violence can save the world and bring a harmonious and rich future to future generations. Americans, who claim to be Christians, have forgotten the most beautiful values taught by Jesus: forgiveness and compassion. Jesus had brought an end to the values of the Old Testament which preached the bloody "an eye for an eye" and replaced it in a commendable manner with "when you are struck on the right cheek, show the left one".
Georges Bush, who pretends to be a christian, comes back to the Old Testament's bloody values. The profound sadness brought about by the monstrous attacks of September 11th did not die by killing THOUSANDS of innocent Afghan civilians, and nor will it die by killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraki people. Only one word can describe all these attacks: revenge. In how many more other ountries after Iraq will the American authorities slaughter innocent people by labeling them "collateral damage"? The spirit of revenge breeds resentment, never dies, and leads to internal violence. To get back to Jesus' teachings is the only solution for the American people. To mourn our deads and forgive, according to the Christian message and give love to those who suffer in order to dissuade them from becoming terrorists. "War"against terrorism can never be conquered through violence but only
No other region in the world is more 'militarized' than Israel, and terrorist attacks are more numerous THERE than anywhere else. The only remedies are 'love'and compassion'. Georges Bush can become a Christian again by removing the American troops in Saudi Arabia (a sacred Islamic place), by lifting economic sanctions against Iraq (which kill millions of children), and by equally supporting the rights of the Palestinian people as well as the Israeli people.
Instead of getting ready to invade Iraq, the American forces should deploy to Palestine to protect the Palestinian people. This way, no terrorist would ever think about attacking the United States.
Only love can save the world. I personally wrote to Yasser Arafat to advise him to become the Palestinian Gandhi by recommending that he gets out on the street with 100 000 Palestinians and fasts with them, until death if necessary, so that they can get an independent Palestinian state.
The terrorist attacks will never allow him to conquer because he is confronted WITH a country thatis led by the legendary "an eye for an eye". Whereas his sacrifice through a 'Gandhi-style' fast would put the world public opinion 100% on his side. Only love and non-violence can save the world.
Because of the fact that the United States is the only world superpower and only for this reason, it bears the responsibility of not using this superpower to dominate others. Because of the fact that the United States is the most powerful country in the world, it should be a model of non-violence and compassion. I call upon all Americans and the citizens of the world to go out on the street to express their support for peace and non-violence... before it's too late!"
