Jack Yan details spirituality-and-business concept at Amsterdam and personal site
New Zealand’s only contribution to international branding conference takes marketing concepts to a new level; resource for articles and speeches includes personal moments
Wellington, January 16 (JY Media) Jack Yan, CEO of Jack Yan & Associates, has been known for his ideas on business and policy, having been a pioneer in virtual companies and foreseeing concepts such as moral globalization. His latest theories on spirituality and business, to be presented as New Zealand’s contribution at a conference in Amsterdam on Friday, January 17, feature at a new personal site at <http://jackyan.com>, which he says helps articulate some of his visions beyond that of his company.
‘Spirituality and business: the next movement?’ will be presented at the Chief Brand Officers’ Association’s international meeting in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on January 17. Mr Yan will try to join the conference via video link. The article can be read on his new site or at CAP Online (http://www.jyanet.com/cap/) and UK marketing agency Ourhouse (http://www.roundourhouse.com).
His site also contains excerpts of or links to his recent media coverage in CNN.com in the US, Professional Manager in the UK, Resumé in Sweden and MAP Magazine in Australia. It features excerpts of his articles, speeches and earlier media coverage.
Those who have attended his speeches around the world can find supplementary notes as aides mémoires.
Unlike other businesspeople’s personal sites, Mr Yan has included personal photography and details his belief in spirituality’s application in business.
For those who know his work in typography and type design, there are excerpts from articles and interviews from that industry, and links to his typefaces.
The site is designed, according to Mr Yan, to supplement his work at Jack Yan & Associates (http://jyanet.com), but expand upon his ideas about humanity, policy and commerce – not coincidentally themes that are in line with the Association’s aims to effect positive societal change worldwide.
He hopes to add to his site’s ‘human quotient’ by including features for dialogue. He believes that some of the less formal photographs inject more ‘humanity’ to business.
Mr Yan has two new book ventures planned for 2003. He is contributing to one on branding, edited by Nicholas Ind and published by Kogan Page. Another expands his Amsterdam paper on spirituality and branding, to be presented by colleagues in the branding discipline on January 17, 2003.
The aim of the Chief Brand Officers’ Association
In its third year, the Chief Brand Officers’ Association is a collective of branding experts, authors and practitioners who work to effect positive societal change, economic development and global improvement through their profession. It believes that branding should be founded on human values and mutual honesty. In 2002, its members authored the Brand Manifesto (http://www.jyanet.com/cap/2002/0909fe0.shtml) and aim to set new standards for managing the health of organizational relationships, assessing the functional, psychological, spiritual, and social benefits they provide.
The latest meeting, convened by global brand strategist Sicco van Gelder of Brand Meta (http://www.brand-meta.com), takes place in Amsterdam on January 17, 2003. Association members from the previous meeting include Chris Macrae of ValueTrue.com, Nicholas Ind of Futurebrand Oslo, Thomas Gad and Anette Rosencreutz of Brandflight, John Caswell of Group Partners Ltd., Tim Kitchin of Surprisingly Reasonable, and John Moore and Alan Moore of Ourhouse.
