Richard Gray new Cancer Society National President
The Cancer Society of New Zealand is pleased to advise that Richard Gray has been elected as its National President. Mr
Gray holds university degrees in Economics and Law and is a partner in the Christchurch law firm of Meares Williams. He
was previously the chairman of the Canterbury/West Coast Division of the Society and is actively involved with the
Pacific Leprosy Foundation, the Rotary Club of Christchurch and other charitable organisations.
Richard Gray is committed to continuing and increasing Cancer Society services, including providing support to cancer
patients and their families, educating people about cancer prevention and early detection, and undertaking research into
the causes and treatments of cancer.
At the Society’s recent Annual General Meeting, a decision was made to move to a single level of governance with a
National Board replacing the National Executive Committee and National Council being a further development as a
progressive and efficient organisation.
