Liz Stretch, who will become Plunket's General Manager of Maori Health on 22 July. She is currently the Director of
Maori Health for the Whanganui District Health Board.
Her tribal affiliations are Te Atihaunui-a-Paparangi, Ngati Tuwharetoa, Ngati Apa, Ngati Raru, Ngati Tamakopiri me Ngati
Whitikaupeka and Ngati Hauiti.
Liz has worked with iwi regionally and nationally and has extensive knowledge of whanau, hapu, iwi networks,
infrastructures, protocols and processes. She has a sound knowledge of te reo Maori me ona tikanga and the Treaty of
Waitangi at a strategic level and within a service delivery context.
Her experience in Maori health issues and services pertaining to Maori within the community and health sectors will be
welcomed by Plunket's professional Maori and non-Maori staff and volunteer networks.
Liz has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and studied Maori and New Zealand history at Victoria
University. She has been involved in Te Kohanga Reo since its inception as a whanau member; was a Strategic Cultural
Advisor to ACC; and has worked as the Strategic Manager Maori Health for Good Health Wanganui; and latterly as the
Director of Maori Health for the Whanganui District Health Board.
Liz Stretch has three tamariki aged 26, 24 and 15 years and two mokopuna. While her first two tamariki were cared for by
district nurses, her 15-year old was a Plunket baby. She has recently worked with Plunket to establish a relationship
between Plunket's area manager and the District Health Board to identify service delivery issues for Plunket and Maori.
