Yogafest in Greytown

Published: Wed 12 Jun 2002 03:37 PM
Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 June
The Yogafest is the lightest substantial introduction to Yoga and Meditation available today. Run by the Ananda Marga society, the programme gives participants simple and effective Yoga and Meditation techniques, along with insights into life.
The morning sessions focus on Yoga postures, learning a set of four easy postures that have broad physical and mental health benefits. This programme also includes self massage and deep relaxation. This is followed by chanting meditation, then silent meditation using mantra and visualisation. A rhythmic yoga dance is also learned over the weekend.
Lunch is a delicious vegetarian meal of locally grown organic veggies.
The afternoon sessions are activity oriented, using drawing and discussion. They are stimulating and fun and are held outdoors, weather permitting.
Saturday evening , for those wishing to stay, offers a chance to share inspirational poetry, songs, stories and other creations.
The programme is led by Dada Jitendrananda, a Yoga monk from Ireland who has been teaching for 20 years.
