17 May 2002
Transit New Zealand advises all motorists travelling in the Grafton Gully area that from Monday May 20 until December
2002, a diversion will be in place in sections of Stanley Street, Alten Road, Beach Road and Churchill Street.
The diversion is needed to allow for the widening of Stanley Street and for improvements to be made to the Stanley
Street/Beach Road intersection.
Traffic wanting to access Beach Rd from Stanley Street will use Alten Road and Churchill Street. Traffic will only be
able to turn left from Churchill Street to Beach Road, so some access to Beach Road will be restricted.
Alten Road will be closed to downhill traffic between Churchill Street and Stanley Street. Motorists are requested to
avoid the Symonds Street/Alten Road intersection and to use alternative routes to access Stanley Street.
Traffic turning right from Stanley Street to Parnell Rise will continue to use Stanley Street. However lane arrangements
will change in this area.
The diversion and all changes to traffic lanes will be clearly sign-posted.
Further details, including a map showing the diversion, will be advertised in local newspapers 5 May to 9 June.
Transit New Zealand thanks all motorists in advance for their co-operation and apologises for any inconvenience.
For more information regarding the diversion, and the Grafton Gully Project, motorists can phone 0800 TO FREEFLOW (0800
863 733).
