Kinleith News Potentially Devastating

Published: Wed 27 Mar 2002 10:25 PM
“The news that Kinleith pulp and paper mill faces massive redundancies is potentially devastating to the Tokoroa community,” said Council of Trade Unions secretary Paul Goutler today.
“The news does not send a good signal in an industry which is a cornerstone New Zealand industry,” he said.
“The community and the union members will need to be convinced of the need for job loss and the CTU will be closely working with the EPMU over the whole issue.”
Paul Goulter said Carter Holt Harvey would need to negotiate any proposal in good faith with the union and without a preconceived view of the level of redundancies.
