Boning Up On Arthritis

Published: Mon 25 Feb 2002 01:34 PM
New Zealand's major cause of disability and chronic pain is the focus of 3 free health seminars in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch next month.
People with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoporosis can hear the latest options and developments from leading rheumatologists and other health professionals, together with patients living successfully with arthritis.
The seminars are commissioned by the Decade of Bone & Joint 2000-2010 (BJD) and are its major initiative for 2002.
Musculoskeletal diseases are the chronic care challenge of the century. Arthritis affects one in four New Zealanders and accounts for around 20% of all patient visits to GPs.
The seminars are being held on the following Sundays next month:
a.. March 10 at 2.00pm - Auckland, Ellerslie Convention Centre
b.. March 17 at 2.00pm - Christchurch, Chateau on the Park
c.. March 24 at 2.00pm - Wellington, Michael Fowler Centre. People are asked to call 0800 11 00 85 (no names or details required) to register their interest or for more information.
