Telecom’s Santa Line Service Proving Popular

Published: Wed 12 Dec 2001 04:11 PM
Telecom’s Santa Line service is proving a huge hit with children again this year.
Telecom is offering children the opportunity to share their Christmas wish lists with Santa online or by freephone throughout December. Kids can email Santa from the xtramsn.co.nz/christmas Web site or at santa@xtra.co.nz
In its first week of operation over 226,000 children called the Santa Line freephone to let Santa know what they hope to find under the tree on Christmas morning. Nearly 34,000 calls were received on one day alone. More than 1000 additional present requests have come in by email. Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings merchandise are among the most popular gifts being requested.
Telecom's Corporate Positioning Manager, Maria Robertson, said Santa Line is a fun, easy way for children to access one of Christmas’s great traditions.
"We’re encouraging all children with Internet access to email their wish lists to Santa to avoid possible delays if too many children phone at the same time. We’re also asking parents to encourage their children to start calling early, but to only call once. That way everyone should get a chance to pass their requests through to Santa."
Santa can be contacted at:
