Results of further tests have given Anchor milk, cream and Sun Latte products recently recalled by New Zealand Dairy
Foods the all clear.
Says Peter McClure, Chief Executive, "We are pleased to be able to tell customers that the recalled products have been
shown to be perfectly safe. The recall was a precautionary measure initiated as soon as we were alerted to the
possibility of Listeria bacteria being present in test samples."
Subsequent testing has shown that the products do not contain Listeria Monocytogenes and they are safe. The Listeria
identified in the testing is a non-pathogenic form of Listeria that naturally exists in the environment and poses no
risk to consumers.
Says Mr. McClure, "We have very strict quality control processes to ensure our products are safe and this shows that our
precautionary processes are working. In this instance while we appreciate this caused some inconvenience it was
important to recall the products immediately until we could be satisfied that they were safe."
New Zealand Dairy Foods recalled carton packaged milk, cream and Sun Latte products with a best before date of 1
November 2001 and sold in the North Island only. It did not include any products packaged in plastic bottles.
The Company apologies to customers for any inconvenience and those customers who have disposed of product and have
called the 0800 968 574 for replacement vouchers can expect to receive them in the next few days.
