District Health Board Annual Planning Processes Getting Underway
The Ministry of Health and other government agencies will soon start working with District Health Boards on their draft
district annual plans.
Annual plans are the key public accountability document for DHBs that outline the expected performance of the
organisation and what services they will offer for the coming year.
DHBs were due to submit their draft 2001/02 annual plans by July 31 this year, said Gordon Davies, Deputy Director
General of Sector Funding and Purchasing.
Once a draft annual plan is received it will be reviewed by Ministry of Health officials.
Negotiations with each DHB are expected to take place in late August and early September, Mr Davies said.
"The Ministry of Health and District Health Boards will be working together closely over this time towards a mutually
agreeable outcome."
The responsibility for approving the District Annual Plan and signing the Crown Funding Agreement rests with Minister of
Health Annette King. It is expected the process will be completed in late September.
"Each finalised annual plan is a major document that lets a local community know what services they can expect from
their District Health Board."
