CYF Comment On Baby Hurt In Auckland

Published: Thu 21 Jun 2001 11:24 AM
Child, Youth and Family chief executive Jackie Brown says she’s shocked and saddened by an incident in Auckland in which a baby was burnt.
“Of course we don’t know the full details of what has happened in this case yet and we’re unable to comment on matters before the courts.
“But I can confirm Child, Youth and Family has had no prior involvement with the baby before today.
“Incidents such as this highlight the fact that the responsibility to protect children falls on us all. We need to be vigilant for signs of children at risk and seek help from appropriate authorities where necessary.
“Child, Youth and Family is ready if necessary to play a role in keeping this baby safe in future.”
