A new telephone help line will give the public direct access to Intellectual Property information and assistance when launched by the Intellectual Property Office on 2 April.
The toll free number 0508 4 IPONZ (0508 – 447-669) is being established in response to the growing demand for information about intellectual property from members of the public. In the last twelve months the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) received over 10,000 telephone enquires, which represents an increase of 10% from the previous 12 month period.
“The launch of the Intellectual Property Office information line is a key step in delivering a useful service to all members of the public.” said Justin Hygate, Managing Director of the Intellectual Property Office. “It will enable us to focus our office resources on specific applications, while better catering for general enquiries or first time users of the Office’s services. We aim to help more people to realise the full economic potential of their intellectual property.”
Calls to 0508 4 IPONZ will be answered from a national call centre. The new service will enable IPONZ to provide national service to complement the existing 0508 WEBHELP (0508 9324357) service which has already been established, to assist clients users of the IPONZ website (www.iponz.govt.nz).
Existing clients wishing to discuss specific applications or policy matters with IPONZ staff should continue to contact the Office directly on 04 560 1600 or via e-mail at iponz@iponz.govt.nz.
IPONZ is the government agency responsible for the granting and registration of patent, trade mark and design rights.
