“Senior Doctors Pleased With New Tairawhiti Healthcare Chief Executive Appointment”
“Senior doctors are pleased with the appointment of Mr Jim Green as Chief Executive of Tairawhiti Healthcare,” said Mr Ian Powell, Executive Director of the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, today. Mr Green was recruited from Northland Health where he holds a senior management position and will take up his new position in Gisborne next month.
“Mr Green is well thought of by senior doctors in Northland where he currently works and is respected for his cooperative, principled and firm approach to issues.”
“Since Tairawhiti Healthcare’s formation in 1993 senior doctors have had little confidence in senior management. Further, in recent years relationships have seriously deteriorated. There are also poor relationships between nurses and senior management. In addition Tairawhiti’s public hospital in Gisborne has been unfairly linked by geographic association to the cervical screening enquiry involving the private laboratory.”
“Mr Green will inherit an organisation that has highly committed and skilled senior doctors and nurses whose efforts to provide quality patient services have been frustrated by difficult management relationships. He has a unique opportunity to convert adversity into opportunity.”
“We want to work with Mr Green to turn this negativity into a constructive cooperative working relationship that will only be of benefit to the public of the Poverty Bay-East Coast region,” concluded Mr Powell.
