HEAVY POLICE PRESENCE IN DARFIELD TO CONTINUE
Detective Inspector Rob Pope says that it is not appropriate to comment on any individuals as part of the Blakie inquiry.
“Police obligations in relation to issues such as this are quite clear. The Police responsibility, as always, is to meet the interests of justice and accordingly it is not appropriate to discuss specific details of any individual spoken to by the Police in relation to this investigation.
Any person has the right to make public their dealings with police but that is their decision alone.”
Mr Pope says that there will continue to be a heavy police presence in the Darfield area for some time. The examination of the house and the area canvas will continue for some days.
Meanwhile less than 50% of competitors in the Coast to Coast, (Lisa’s body was discovered during the Coast to Coast race weekend), have replied to the initial police letter.
Constable Janelle McGiffin says that reminder letters will be sent this week.
“We’d like people to contact us whether or not they think they saw anything of value to the inquiry or not,” she says.
