Plains FM96.9 will sponsor new broadcasters in to radio programmes through a new initiative announced today.
“Radio Now! is the perfect introduction to making and broadcasting your own programme, and it’s free to qualifying
applicants,” says Marketing & Development Co-ordinator, Richard Liddicoat.
Under section 36c of the broadcasting act 1989, Plains FM caters for women, children, people with disabilities, and
minority groups, including ethnic minorities. All broadcasters retain editorial control of their programmes.
Radio Now! provides comprehensive training to new broadcasters and matches them up with a programme mentor to assist
with script and programme development. Free airtime is included – a first for Plains FM.
“In this day and age, the chance to make such relevant and community-focussed local programmes doesn’t come along often.
The chance to do it for free is an amazing opportunity,” Mr Liddicoat said.
Radio Now! sponsors qualifying 36c groups through training, programme development, and broadcast. Community groups,
schools, or any other organisations that cater for 36c target groups are encouraged to apply.
“Everything is in place – all we need is the community to get involved,” Mr Liddicoat said.
