Well Done WINZ

Published: Mon 15 Nov 1999 01:00 PM
The APSU Student Union is very pleased with the record thus far of Work and Income New Zealand's enrolment procedures for the Community Wage - Student.
"At the beginning of the 1998 / 99 summer we were dealing with all sorts of problems students were facing getting in touch with WINZ staff," said President John Barkess. " So far this year we have heard only good things. It appears that WINZ have listened to our concerns and have addressed the issues."
"If this level of service is maintained through out the summer and with Student Loans and Allowances next year we will extremely happy," said Mr. Barkess. "Although we are still concerned that they may under-estimate the influx at the beginning of the academic year I guess we will just have to keep an eye on the situation."
"While we still don't agree with the rules, we realise this is a policy decision and therefore out of the hands of WINZ staff. We still have a lot of work to do to stop the discrimination against students."
"It's great to see that the new systems are working. It's great to see students are getting the level of professional service they deserve."
"Lorraine Williams and her staff deserve a big thank you for the work so far."
