YouCan for KidsCan

Published: Wed 16 May 2018 12:44 PM
YouCan for KidsCan is a quintessential Kiwi fair with a twist. The charity fair is on June 9th from 12-4 at Pinehurst School and is raising money and awareness for KidsCan. The event is youth run with it being run by YouCan; a business run by two year thirteen students, Mikayla O’Brien and Mackenzie Cooper, from Pinehurst School who are participating in the Young Enterprise Scheme.
The event will feature a marketplace where other Young Enterprise Scheme businesses from all over Auckland are coming to sell their products. There will be food choices for everyone with food trucks offering different foods like churros, burgers, hotdogs and temaki. Throughout the day, there will be music and dance performances; all by young people. Alongside there will be many activities to get everyone moving and having fun, like trampoline.
There is a youth flair to this fair since it is raising money for KidsCan. We chose KidsCan because we want all kids in New Zealand to have amazing opportunities like we have been given. Therefore, we wanted lots of the aspects of the fair to be about youth and run by youth so we could help out others similar ages to us and show that young people can unite together to make a difference.
