iQualify LMS achieves IMS certification in open badges
As part of their commitment to recognising learner achievement, iQualify, a leading New Zealand-based digital learning management system (LMS), have achieved IMS Global Learning Consortium certification for the new Open Badges 2.0 standard.
Originally launched in 2012, open badges are an online visual representation of skills achieved and are used by thousands of organisations around the world.
Displayed as a digital badge, open badges are authenticated achievements embedded with metadata about the badge criteria and linked to the awarding organisation. Open badges are shareable online, enabling individuals to build a digital collection of their achievements as they continue to learn new skills.
The new 2.0 standard offers significant benefits for customers using iQualify says Shanan Holm, iQualify’s General Manager. “It will allow customers to confidently award digital badges which are embedded with evidence that the learner has met the internationally recognised badge criteria.”
.
"IMS certification has been a critical step for us in demonstrating iQualify’s commitment to enabling a learner-led experience that provides meaningful outcomes with recognisable achievement," says Mr Holm.
Being IMS certified also ensures that learners will be able to display their badges on, and share their badges from, any IMS certified platform.
“The Open Badges 2.0 standard represents incredible gains for learners who are after endorsable and fully portable credentials," says Mr Holm.
Launched in 2015, iQualify LMS is a modern mobile learning platform providing customers with online tools to create and sell courses. Built to inspire success, iQualify customers can engage learners and assess instantly. Customers can also integrate iQualify with existing technologies using the Developer API.
All products that have achieved IMS certification for Open Badges 2.0 are listed in the IMS Certified Product Directory at imcert.org
