More than 50 Christchurch Schools And Education Organisations to Present at Festival
More than 50 Christchurch schools, universities, Early Childhood Education providers and industry organisations will be
represented in the workshops, performances and presentations at this weekend’s Christchurch Festival of Education.
The programme will have a strong local focus to complement the international keynote speakers, Michael Fullan and
Christian Long.
The workshop and presentation programme includes leading local educators such as Linda Tame, Trevor McIntyre, Derek
Wenmoth, and Cheryl Doig. It will also include students from Te Kura Kaupapa M?ori o Te Wh?nau Tahi sharing their story
about how they have achieved outstanding results in literacy.
The performance programme includes Slam Poetry, Shakespearean actors, kapa haka, choirs and Jacob Morris, winner of the
New Zealand musician of the year at Rockquest 2013.
Inspired by the highly successful London Festival of Education, New Zealand’s Festival of Education has been developed
by Cognition Education in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
Chris Sullivan, General Manager of Knowledge and Growth for Cognition Education, says: “Close to 1000 people have
pre-registered for the workshops and seminar programme.”
“We are delighted with the strong response from the local community. It’s important that we celebrate the enormous
contribution our educators make to society,” he said.
