Education leaders gather in Wellington
Education Ministers and education leaders from the OECD’s top-performing countries will gather in Wellington in March to
hold a global dialogue on building and supporting teaching excellence.
The annual International Summit on the Teaching Profession (ISTP) provides a forum for Ministers, unions and teaching
leaders to discuss educational achievements and challenges from their own countries and share lessons.
The purpose of the gatherings is to identify best practices worldwide that strengthen the teaching profession and raise
student achievement. The theme for this fourth Summit is “Excellence, equity and inclusiveness – high quality teaching for all”.
The Summit is a mix of formal and informal discussions, some of which will be open to the media.

OECD’s Andreas Schleicher will deliver a webinar presenting the report “Equity, Excellence and Inclusiveness – policy lessons from around the world” which details the state of equity in education today and provides numerous examples of the innovative policies and
practices that some countries have adopted to ensure that the widest possible population of students gets the best
possible education.
