Albany Childcare has fun with Mandarin and Spanish for Preschoolers
The first term of teaching Preschoolers a second language is wrapping up on a high at Kids Planet Childcare in Albany.
“We recently introduced an extra-curricular extension programme to teach four year olds a second language.” Says Manzine Guo – Languages Teacher. “Nearing the end of this term, parents and teachers were amazed how quickly young children picked up these language skills. The children can now say common phrases, know a number of words and meanings and have a good grasp of basic conversation.”
Research has revealed that young children have an immense capacity for learning new languages and exposure to a foreign language in a child’s formative years has been proven to raise their IQ level, while also having a positive impact on their overall learning experience.
The programme is held in the centre’s recently completed, purpose-built languages classroom and is taught by experienced, specialist teachers from the long-established LCF Fun Languages and Music Programme.
Both programmes are based around an interactive framework, utilising a range of games, role play, drama, music and movement - with the learning outcomes and methods of teaching a perfect fit with the centre’s existing Te Whariki curriculum.
Enrolments are now being taken for term four which is strictly limited to 10 places.
