New Schoolies Website: Back To School For Less
With the cost of living continuing to climb, and family budgets already stretched to breaking point there may be some reprieve in sight.
Young Wellington mum, Helen Lane, has developed a website that allows parents to trade school and sports uniforms that are no longer needed. The site, www.schoolies.co.nz went live on the 12th January 2013.
Helen says, “The price of buying a new school uniform can be up to $1,000 . This represents a significant cost to families with school age children and the more children a family has, the more expensive it becomes. On the other hand, if sold, superfluous uniforms can generate much-needed money for the household.
The Schoolies website has an easy-to-use search function. Users are able to search by school, and by uniform category, size, quality and price. Listings are free until the end of January 2013, after which it will cost $2.50 to list one item and $5.00 for multiple items.
Helen says that with 24-hour access, and fixed prices allowing immediate sales, the days of rummaging around school halls for the right second hand uniform will be over.
