Girls’ College Performs to 12 Tauranga Schools

Dance and Drama students at Tauranga Girls College performed their annual production to over 500 hundred local primary
school children last week.
Pupils from 12 primary schools across Tauranga were invited to the show which saw 180 fourteen and fifteen year olds
perform magic and mystery inspired dances and scenes from productions such as The Beauty and the Beast, Alice in
Wonderland, The Lion King and Aladdin.
The one hour show was performed a total of nine times, meaning the girls carried out at rate required to do so by
professionals.
Head of Performing Arts Jodie Moore said, “Shows like these really prepares our students for the working worlds of
performing arts. They have all demonstrated the ability and stamina to perform in front big audiences. It gives them the
hands on experience and confidence for the future, as well as their ongoing school work.
“The students loved giving something back to the primary schools they once attended and the day also helped to create
stronger bonds between teachers and pupils from across Tauranga.”
Bev Silverton from Kamai School said, “The girls put on a stella performance and we thank them very much for having us!”
Tauranga Girls’ College offers dance, drama and music to level 3 NCEA, in addition to a vast array of extra-curricular
activities including Stage Challenge, annual production and an array of music groups.
