speakers at the launch of the Perry Knight Clubhouse 2
Career Scholarship Fund sponsored by Computer Clubhouse
Trust (NZ).
They will join other ICT industry leaders, along with Goldman Sachs and Partners New Zealand Foundation, and individual donors to award four inaugural scholarships and other prizes to Computer Clubhouse members from around New Zealand. They are: Samuel Thompson (18) Wanganui Clubhouse; Lole Lolesio (18) and Michael Singh (18) both from Clubhouse 274 Auckland; and Natasha Tahere (18) from Tech Pa Clubhouse Whakatane.
The world leading Computer Clubhouse learning model engages young people through technology, and helps them establish successful technology career paths. Clubhouse-to-Career scholarships are used for tertiary fees and paid apprenticeships.
The event is hosted by Oscar Kightley with opening remarks by Blair Knight, the son of Perry Knight.
*Perry Knight was a well-known and prolific angel investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist with a deep and sincere passion for working in and implementing social and economic development solutions in underserved communities. He was a Founding Trustee of Computer Clubhouse Trust in New Zealand and served on the Board until his death in September 2009.
There are currently five Computer Clubhouses in New Zealand with an additional seven planned by 2012 with support from the government, private, and philanthropic sectors.
