Property Design Award for Wintec Hub
Wintec’s hub building took a merit award at the Property council of New Zealand awards this week.
The new student hub at Wintec’s city campus impressed judges with its library, information centre and food court and was recognised in the Education and Arts category. The facility was also nominated in the Urban Design category.
Chief judge, John Dunn complemented the Hub and the other Waikato project which received awards, the renovation work at Hamilton Airport, saying the facilities catered for the public and provided the people of Waikato with a better standard of living through both travel and education. Thirteen awards were given to buildings throughout New Zealand.
Wintec chief executive said he was extremely pleased that the many attributes of the building have been acknowledged by the industry.
“The Hub actually is the envy of Hamilton. The design, the technology and its capacity to successfully accommodate a range of functions at the same time has played a key role in the on-going modernisation of Wintec.”
Flowers said stage two of the city campus redevelopment was almost complete.
