Wintec O Week plans finalised
Wintec’s O’Week plans are complete and look certain to set a fast and furious pace for the beginning of the academic
year for hundreds of new students who will inundate the institute over the coming weeks.

The Deadly Deaths – Monday 18th February
The Waikato is back on the national musical map with this trio's smooth blend of laidback melodic indie pop - aptly
self-describing their sound as "restrained indie-synth-pop". Shunning all current musical trends in favour of creating
their own sound, this 3-piece band combines varied and unlikely influences to come up with a melodic multi-vocal
delivery.

The Shrugs – Tuesday 19th February
A simple, no-frills approach to power-pop rock, this trio have recorded a series of low-key releases in quick
succession. The Shrugs have never won a competition, been on TV or opened a furniture store but have been regularly play
listed on New Zealand’s b-net stations.
Their appearance at Wintec’s O’Week coincides with the release of the Shrugs third album in mid February.

Cosmic Ska Child – Thursday 21st February
Fronted by ex Boil Up lead singer, Garry Clarkson, Cosmic Ska Child are an upbeat ska reggae band that will lay down
some 60’s ska on the final lunchtime gig at O’Week.
Serving a unique combination of chilled out yet very danceable reggae and ska, Ska Child is Hamilton’s best in this
genre and has played reggae fests including Soundsplash and supported touring band The Managers.
