Ask about getting computer savvy, get a free lunch

Ask about becoming computer savvy –and enjoy a free lunch!
A sizzling free barbecue lunch is part of the package for this Wednesday’s Open Day for UCOL’s Free and Easy computer learning programme.
The new morning crew from Classic Hits will also be along and a team from the Free and Easy programme will be on hand to explain the benefits of free, effective foundation computer skills training for all ages.
The Open Day will be held in the Free and Easy rooms in Block 8 on UCOL’s well equipped central city campus in Palmerston North.
Thousands of people, young and older, have taken advantage of the no-cost, hands-on computer skills programme since it started six years ago. Special features of Free and Easy include learning word processing features that can help with updating CVs, using Power Point, creating a newsletter and becoming email savvy. It suits people who want to upgrade professionally as well as home users and/or club and committee members who want to know how to create effective newsletters.
Now there are even more reasons to enroll. UCOL’s head of community education, Sue Ireland says Free and Easy is well equipped to help people come to grips with a new generation of software packages. “This includes Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 which are very different from previous versions of the same products and take some getting used to.”
Anyone interested in joining the programme, learning new skills and making new friends, should come along to the Open Day any time between 8.30am and 1pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits are on offer, as well as the free barbecue lunch with the new Classic Hits team.
