High hoofs for Harold
Life Education's annual event 'Harold's Big Day Out' will see Harold hit the track to race a mystery guest at Ellerslie
Racecourse tomorrow.
Harold has been training for weeks and is quietly confident, having been spotted learning some moves with the North
Harbour Rugby team.
Harold's 2pm race is only one of the many highlights of the day which will see rides from the Easter show, facepainting,
giveaways, races, bouncy castles and an obstacle, course on offer.
Life Education Trust is an independent aid to education that aims to teach children about healthy choices and the
importance of an active lifestyle.
The trust is currently raising funds for a second mobile learning capsule that will enable Harold to visit schools more
often and incorporate new elements into the programme such as an anti-bullying campaign.
As a fixture in the kiwi childhood, Harold's messages are integral in aiding with the increasing emphasis on child
obesity, providing a memorable outlet for important lessons about the human body and how it functions.
So many kids know and love Harold and the interactive, exciting and fun way they learn about looking after their bodies,
respecting one another, and protecting the environment.
The free family fun day gives parents a chance to learn firsthand about Life Education's contribution and Harold's cult
status among children.
The day also includes a corporate luncheon and race day as a way to thank the ongoing contribution and support of the
trust's sponsors.
StarJam and a silent auction will provide entertainment for the luncheon, which hopes to raise the profile, funds and
awareness of the difference Life Education is making within the community.
The Life Education Trust has recently launched New Zealand's second ever charity text campaign, allowing New Zealanders
to donate $3 via text message to 'Help Harold Help Kids'.
Harold's Big Day Out is a free family-friendly event that will be held at the Ellerslie Racecourse from 12.00 - 4.30pm
on Saturday October 28 2006.
Texts cost three dollars, kids please ask the bill payer first
