Scriptwriters in the Making!
David Coyle, student at St Patrick’s College, Wellington has been selected as the winner of the South Seas Film and TV School, Real Groove and New Zealand Writers Guild short film scriptwriting competition in 2006.
His script A Cold Beer was selected as the winning entry. The NZ Writers Guild judges said that the script was a clear winner and that his skill and commitment won the day.
As winner David receives a free place on the Introduction to Film and TV 5-day production course in early December at South Seas in Auckland plus Final Draft v7 scriptwriting software from the New Zealand Writers Guild. While on the course David will also meet with Kathryn Burnett, scriptwriting tutor, to discuss his winning script.
The NZ Writers Guild judges also highly commended The Time Ord by Louis Stowasser of Cashmere High, Christchurch and Normal by Lara van der Meulen of St Peter's College, Cambridge.
The annual short film scriptwriting competition was open to all 5th, 6th and 7th Form secondary school students nationwide in New Zealand and required entrants to write a five to eight minute short film script.
