Judging Panel Complete for Cut!
Organisers of the annual national documentary / short film competition ‘ Cut!’, Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) have announced its panel of judges for this year’s event.
Angela Littlejohn has spent 15 years as a producer in the United Kingdom in the film and television industries and for the last six years has been a Deputy Co-Production Executive for Channel 4.
Peter Salmon, a former director for Weta Workshop, Wellington, is currently a writer for the Gibson Group. He has directed numerous short and feature length films including the award winning Letters about the Weather.
Paula Allen is Head of Media Studies at Hamilton’s Hillcrest High School. She works alongside NZQA and the Ministry of Education as a Media Studies consultant. She is also the community co-ordinator at the University of Waikato for Big TV and produces music videos for Show Pony (Auckland’s Alt TV).
Head of the School of Media Studies at Wintec, Margi Moore, said great prizes including an apple eMac computer and mini DV cameras were up for grabs and that once again this competition had was proving a ‘must do’ for schools throughout the country.
“This is a fantastic learning opportunity for secondary school students.
Our judges are always industry professionals and each year have been astounded by the talent the competition brings out.” She said entry requirements are aligned to the NCEA curriculum.
She said the ten finalists films will be screened at Rialto Cinemas in Hamilton.
