Kaupapamaori.com site launched to support Māori Language Week

A new Māori internet site that has been developed to support Māori researchers and academics is now available online.
Kaupapamāori.com has been developed by independent research company Māori and Indigenous Analysis Ltd with Māori
resource development company Rautaki Ltd.
Research Director Dr Leonie Pihama states “the site has been developed to make Kaupapa Māori resources more widely
available to our people.” In support of Te Reo Māori week the companies have developed the home pages and links in te
reo Māori. “It’s our contribution to affirm te reo Māori” states Rautaki Director Jenny Lee. “There are few research
resources actually written in te reo Māori so we decided that we would create the main part of the site in te reo
Māori”.
The pilot project has been funded by Ngā Pae o Te Māramatanga, the National Māori Centre of Research Excellence, and
further support has been provided through a Tertiary Education Commission e-learning Development Fund that has been
secured by Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.
Dr Pihama states “The site is dedicated to work that has a Kaupapa Māori approach and we will be working with Māori
academics and researchers over the next six months to make their work more available through the site.”
