Essay Competition Should Get Students thinking
The essay topic, “Can xenotransplantation solve the organ donor shortfall? Explain the science and explore the issues” is designed to get students thinking about the potential this field of science holds.
“We hope all science and biology teachers will encourage their pupils to enter, and will display the promotional poster in a prime spot on their notice boards,” NZBio CEO Brian Ward says.
“Cash rewards of $500 for first prize and $300 and $150 for second and third place-getters is sure to be added incentive to get writing.
“The 2005 NZBio Essay Competition attracted some very high caliber entries and we are looking forward to receiving stimulating and well considered work again this year.”
Posters and information on the competition were mailed out to New Zealand secondary schools this week.
The competition deadline is 13 October 2006. Entries can be posted to NZBio at PO Box 5580 Wellington or emailed to competition@nzbio.org.nz
