NZEI supports new Secretary for Education
As a seasoned educationalist, Karen Sewell is a fitting choice for Secretary for Education, says NZEI, New Zealand’s largest education union.
Karen Sewell taught at schools in the UK and in New Zealand before taking up positions at the Education Review Office and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
“Not only does Karen have the right background for the position; she also has the right mindset,” says NZEI National President Irene Cooper.
“In past meetings between Government education services and education representatives, she has consistently shown that she is willing to listen to teachers and other professionals in the sector.”
“She is well-respected within the New Zealand education community, and we look forward to working with her as Secretary for Education,” says Irene.
