New head for The Correspondence School
Education sector leader Mike Hollings is the new chief executive of The Correspondence School (TCS).
TCS chair Trish McKelvey announced today that Mike Hollings will take up the position on August 28.
Mike has had more than 30 years of wide-ranging experience in the education sector, from the chalk-face through to management and review.
For the past four years, he has been the National Manager Analysis and Policy at the Education Review Office (ERO), and was acting Chief Executive from June 2005 to until May 2006, leading 250 staff across 11 sites.
“Mike Hollings has an excellent record of successful leadership and management of education and state sector organisations,” Ms McKelvey said. “He has an extensive understanding of what makes education effective in different settings and with different age-groups.”
“During his career, he has made a practical contribution to education in each of the areas where TCS works – from early childhood and special education to primary and secondary schools. Mike has had management and teaching roles in tertiary education.”
Mike believes TCS is in the perfect position to be at the forefront of new ways of educating and is excited at the opportunity to work with staff to continue to deliver top quality education to students.
“The profile of the students enrolled at The Correspondence School now is very different to what it was and we have a huge opportunity to expand and extend on the ability and potential of those students. I look forward to being part of that.”
Mike Hollings takes over from Debbie Francis who was appointed in 2004 as a transition chief executive to help the School overcome significant financial challenges, while maintaining and enhancing teaching and learning.
