Students in Canterbury have earned $10M!!!!
Students using Student Job Search Canterbury have been placed into work that has earned them over 10million since 1st of October 2005. The increase in earnings is up on last year, with an increase of around 5% on the same time period and it’s great to see businesses utilizing the wide range of knowledge and skills that students have. The average hourly rate has also risen to a 6.7% increase from $12 to $12.80.
So far this summer, SJS has advertised thousands of jobs and placed more than three thousands students into employment in the Canterbury region.
“We’re thrilled with the response from employers in the Canterbury region. The talents of our local students are being recognised with record numbers of good quality, well-paying employment opportunities over the 2005/06 summer period,” says regional SJS manager Lupe Leota.
While the increase in students’ earning was pleasing, Leota was concerned that with the influx of students back to Canterbury region to continue their studies that more jobs will be required.
The ideal student job at this time of the year is part-time; though, there are still 6weeks left of the holiday where students can do full-time jobs.
The boom in student earnings at SJS is expected to continue well into the future.
