Student earnings reach 2.8 million in the student city of Palmerston North
Student Job Search has placed students into work that will earn them over 2.8 million dollars during the 05/06 summer.
Regional Manager, Barry Dowell stated that he was “really thrilled with the result for the summer so far, the support from both the local community and businesses had been excellent.”
The summer holidays are particularly important for students for this is the key time of the year they can earn money and save for the forthcoming academic year.
“Support from the local businesses had been very strong, particularly in the retail and hospitality sectors, and this had been very evident in the substantial growth in longer term work being placed by Student Job Search,” said Mr Dowell.
The successful summer has in part been made possible by the skills shortages that some businesses are facing as well as Student Job Search working closely with Vision Manawatu and other business organisations in the Manawatu region.
Student Job Search Manawatu had seen an increase in both the more skilled work such as, call centre, IT jobs, auto cad, and web design as well as in the traditional jobs in the service industry.
“Students studying in Palmerston North can certainly earn good money and have a unique student lifestyle”, said Mr Dowell.
