Rod Donald – A Huge Loss for New Zealand
QPEC members and supporters were deeply saddened at the news of the passing of the co-leader of the Green Party Rod Donald.
As well as his support for human rights and the environment Rod was a strong advocate for the most vulnerable members of our community.
He was a strong supporter of public education as the best approach to give every New Zealand child the very best opportunity in education. He gave his personal support to QPEC initiatives to get a better deal for children with special education needs.
New Zealand is all the poorer for the loss of a politician who led change rather than simply responded to it. In politics Rod breathed new life into much abused and undervalued words such as integrity, passion and commitment.
Our sympathy goes out to his family and to the Green Party.
