Candidates at Whitireia
The Independent Students' Association of Whitireia will this week be hosting MPs and Candidates at Whitireia Community Polytechnic. The Politicians will be talking about Tertiary Education as well as their other policies in an effort to attract the Student Vote in the upcoming elections.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Tertiary Spokespeople from all but one of the sitting political parties will come to campus to woo students to their parties for the upcoming elections.
"After much focus on Polytechnics in the last year, it will be good to get some of the politicians onto campus to face up to the students and explain of their policies," said Students' Association President Greg Henderson.
"Students as well as staff are looking forward to the opportunity to not only be talked to, but also ask questions of their representatives so that they can make informed votes in the election on September 17th," said Henderson.
"Being better informed in the elections will mean that the students will be able to use their votes intelligently instead of relying on political rhetoric that can be viewed by the MPs through the media," said Henderson.
