TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.
There was comment recently by the Ministry of Education and the NZEI about the
‘Making a Bigger Difference for all Students: Directions for a Schooling Strategy’
and the need for parents to respond to the proposed goal, objectives and priorities suggested in the document.
In our newsletters and magazine articles we have been encouraging our parents to do this since about October last year, and we urge them once again to make comments on the proposals.
In the February issue of our magazine ‘Parent and School Today’ which goes to every school in New Zealand, there is a summary of what is required. This could be used as an introduction for PTAs/Parent Groups/Friends of the School/School Support Groups – or whatever your name is – to really get into discussion of what we want our education system to look like.
There are 4 major discussion items
Improving Student Outcomes Effective Teaching Families and Whanau Support for Teaching and Schools
and we all know that we have an opinion on all of those things.
Research shows (as reported in our newsletters) that next to Quality Teaching, the support and involvement that children get from home is the most important factor in success.
The document is available from www.schoolingstrategy.govt.nz or Freepost Schooling Strategy, c/o Ministry of Education or PO Box 1666, Wellington or email enquiries.schoolingstrategy@minedu.govt.nz
PARENTS – HAVE YOUR SAY NOW!!!!!!!!!! Remember – 31st March is the due date.
