‘International Education Pursues Diversification Drive’

Central European opportunities come under the spotlight with the arrival in New Zealand of education agents from Central
Europe next week. Two agents from Hungary and one from the Czech Republic will undertake an extensive tour of New
Zealand in the latest in a comprehensive series of visits organised by Education New Zealand and New Zealand Trade and
Enterprise.
‘Diversification is a key part of today’s educational marketing strategy’ says Stuart Boag, Communications Director for
Education New Zealand. ‘Educational, social and cultural gains for all students are enhanced with a broad spread of
nationalities. Many institutions are keen to diversify their student mix, and this visit is an ideal opportunity for
them to explore options in Europe first hand. The agents themselves will gain a far better appreciation of what New
Zealand has to offer in both educational and lifestyle terms as a result of their visit.’
Central Europe is a relatively new market for New Zealand, but already small numbers of students are coming to New
Zealand, drawn by a combination of quality education delivery and lifestyle. As economies in the region strengthen,
students are looking beyond Europe to satisfy their educational aspirations.
The 3 agents will be in New Zealand between the 10th and 21st of October. Whilst here, they will visit institutions in
Auckland, Hamilton, Hawkes Bay, Canterbury, and Taranaki.
‘Agents are a vital link in our ability to attract students from a wide range of countries’ says Stuart Boag. ‘New
Zealand is not always top of mind for students in Central Europe! With the enthusiasm and market knowledge that these
agents gain from this trip, our position in their home countries will be markedly improved’.
