Students Take the Lead on Dog Safety
K9-4-Kids is a Young Enterprise Company operated by five year 12 and 13 students from ACG Strathallan College. K9-4-Kids have produced a Dog Safety Educational Resource Package which aims to help youngsters understand dogs and to know how to be safe around them. It will be marketed to primary and pre-school educators.
Publicity highlighting a number of serious dog attacks motivated the group to develop a programme to help young children understand dog behaviour. Initial research carried out by K9-4-Kids revealed a lack of New Zealand-based educational material.
K9-4-Kids also secured the support of Mark Vette's Rescue Zoo, who lent the services of Hercules - the dog who rose to fame in Toyota's ' Bugger' advertising campaign. Hercules held a starring role in the video, demonstrating varying dog behaviours. Sadly Hercules passed away of natural causes during filming (doing what he loved most) on Wednesday morning.
K9-4-Kids have dedicated this video to the memory of Hercules.
The package is focused around an instructional video which has been produced by Screentime Productions with the support of Nestle Purina, and is hosted by cartoon dog, Fetch.
K9-4-Kids invites you to the official launch of it's Dog Safety Educational Resource Package.
