Survey Seeks Employer Views on Education and Training
Employers: got an opinion on Northland’s education and training? Your opportunity to share your views could be on its
way.
Questionnaires are being mailed to about 3000 Northland employers as the latest step in developing a skills action plan
for the region’s key industry sectors.
Among other aspects, the questionnaire lists training courses currently available in Northland, and asks employers for
feedback on their effectiveness.
It is being sent to employers in Northland’s key industry sectors of pastoral farming, tourism, forestry and wood
processing, horticulture, marine construction, aquaculture, retail and general construction.
The survey results will help to shape a regional plan focusing on practical skill development initiatives.
“The objective is to provide more relevant education and training, and the employment survey will provide us with an
assessment of Northland’s existing training options, as well as the gaps we need to fill,” said Enterprise Northland
chief executive officer Brian Roberts.
The regional skills action plan will be made available for submissions before its scheduled release in July. It is being
driven by a working group comprising the heads of Enterprise Northland, Career Services rapuara, the Tertiary Education
Commission and Work & Income.
