Three Wellington Tertiary Institutions Launch Joint Website
Three Wellington tertiary institutions say a new joint website will make it easier for people to find information about polytechnic education in the region.
The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, Wellington Institute of Technology and Whitireia Community Polytechnic are collaborating to promote their courses and programmes through the new site.
Open Polytechnic marketing communications manager Angela Stewart says the aim is to provide a single information portal for prospective students and those who help them make study decisions such as parents and school careers advisors.
"Some people have a fairly clear idea about what they want and will go direct to an institution's website. Others are searching in a more general way about polytechnic education in the region or may want to compare options. This site gives them a one hit way of getting what they need."
The site is an initiative under the Wellington Tertiary Education Cluster, a grouping that promotes collaboration between the region's tertiary institutions. It was developed in association with the Wellington Region 2020 Communications Trust, and is hosted on the Wellington Community Net (WCN) website. The Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organisation set up to develop and maintain sustainable community information, communication and technology initiatives.
The Wellington Cluster website is at http://www.wec.net.nz
