Teachers awarded a year to study
The Royal Society of New Zealand is delighted to announce the award of 59 NZ Science Mathematics and Technology Teacher Fellowships for 2004.
Funded by Government, these prestigious awards enable teachers to be released from school for up to a year to work on projects, hosted by organisations engaged in research or technological practice, to develop their understandings and skills in sciences, mathematics, technology or social sciences.
Applications were received from 107 teachers and of the 59 Fellowships offered, 28 (of the 50 applicants) are male, 31 (57) are female; 43 (67) are secondary teachers, 16 (40) primary; 2 (5) are Maori or part Maori, and 1 (1) is Pasifika.
